Measured. Not promised.

Every claim on this page has a number behind it. We publish our environmental and social impact because accountability is not optional when you call yourself regenerative.

Three-year projected impact

Based on production targets and validated material specifications.

820-1,610

tonnes of waste plastic prevented
Equivalent to ∼136 elephants or ∼41 landfill truck-loads

93%

lower CO2 emissions vs. virgin plastic
Recycled ABS: 0.3–0.5 kg CO2/kg vs. virgin ABS: 2.5–3.0 kg CO2/kg

18,971 kg

CO2 avoided over three years
Equivalent to taking 4.8 cars off the road for a full year

20+

year product design life
vs. 3–5 years for typical competitor shelving products

9

permanent jobs created by Year 3
All above Scottish Living Wage. Inclusive employment commitment.

100%

recycled material from day one
Post-industrial ABS via Nobufil (Austria). Zero virgin plastic.

Linear vs. Circular

Two lifecycles. One choice.

The Old Way (Traditional Shelving)

1. Customer buys a shelf
2. Uses it for 3–5 years
3. Shelf degrades, warps, or breaks
4. Thrown away
5. Landfill or incineration

Environmental cost per shelf:

2–4 kg of plastic waste. 2–3 kg of CO2 emissions. Lifecycle cost to the customer: £200–£1,000 over 20 years through multiple replacements.

The FAVO Way

1. Customer buys FAVO modules
2. Uses them for 20+ years
3. Expands, reconfigures, adds modules over time
4. At end of life: returns modules to FAVO
5. Modules shredded, pelletised, remade into new products
6. Material never becomes waste. Cycle continues.

Environmental cost per system:
0 kg of waste; material recovered and reused. Lifecycle cost to the customer: £50–£150 over 20 years. No replacement needed.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Not as aspiration. As operational practice.

SDG 10:
Reduced Inequalities

FAVO creates manufacturing and operations employment in Edinburgh and West Lothian with an inclusive hiring commitment. All positions are paid at or above the Scottish Living Wage. Our Year 3 target is 9 permanent jobs, in a sector where meaningful local manufacturing employment is increasingly rare.

We believe that circular economy businesses should create quality jobs, not just reduce waste. Both matter.

SDG 12:
Responsible Consumption & Production

Our entire business model is built on SDG 12 principles. 100% recycled input material from day one. Products designed for 20+ year lifespans. A Return & Reuse programme that recovers material at end of life. Zero-plastic packaging - we ship in cardboard boxes with paper tape, no bubble wrap, no plastic fillers.

This is not a sustainability programme bolted onto a conventional business. Responsible production is the business.

Return & Reuse: Built into the price from day one.

Most “circular economy” claims are future promises. Ours starts with a financial commitment embedded in every unit we sell. 10% of production costs are reserved from the first product shipped, creating the fund that builds the recovery infrastructure.

Year 1: Foundation

Reserve. Prepare. Educate.

10% of COGS per unit is set aside in a dedicated Return & Reuse reserve fund. Collection systems and logistics are designed. Customers are educated about the programme at point of purchase. Every returned module is tracked and stored for future processing.

Year 2: Programme Launch

Accept returns. Begin processing.

Customers can return worn or unwanted modules and receive credit toward new purchases. Returned modules are shredded, pelletised, and reintroduced into the production cycle. Target: 10–15% of production uses recovered material alongside Nobufil recycled ABS.

Year 3+: Full Circular Loop

Close the loop.

Dedicated processing equipment (industrial shredder, testing equipment, logistics infrastructure) enables high-volume material recovery. Target: 30–50% of new products manufactured from recovered FAVO material. The product you return today becomes the product someone buys tomorrow. By Year 5, we target 70% recovered content, approaching a near-complete circular manufacturing loop.

Why This Is Real

Five commitments. Not five slogans.

1. Recycled material only.

100% post-industrial waste ABS from Nobufil. Zero virgin plastic in any FAVO product, from the first unit shipped.

2. Durability designed in, not claimed.

20+ year product lifespan is an engineering specification, not a marketing number. ±0.1mm manufacturing tolerance ensures modules purchased years apart connect identically.

3. Recovery infrastructure funded from day one.

10% of production costs are reserved per unit from the first sale. This fund builds the shredding, pelletising, and logistics infrastructure for the Return & Reuse programme. The commitment is financial, not aspirational.

4. Transparent reporting.

FAVO will publish annual impact reports with independently verified metrics: kilograms of waste prevented, CO2 avoided, material recovered, and jobs created. We commit to third-party audit of our impact claims.

5. Every number on this page can be defended.

The metrics published here are calculated from production targets, material specifications, and verified supplier data. We don’t round up. We don’t estimate optimistically. If we can’t measure it, we don’t claim it.

This is what differentiates a regenerative business from a business with a green page on its website.

Education & Community

Impact beyond the product.

FAVO’s mission includes education and community engagement as a core pillar, not an afterthought. We are building programmes that change how people, especially young people, think about waste, materials, and manufacturing.

Schools and universities

Interactive demonstrations showing the complete journey from discarded plastic to finished FAVO module. Students collect waste from home, watch it transform into a product, and understand that what they discarded yesterday could become something functional today.

Our target: 5,000–10,000 students reached annually by Year 3.

Community material recovery

Collection points at schools and community centres. On-site demonstration of small-scale processing. Hands-on workshops teaching proper plastic segregation, material properties, and manufacturing processes.

We are building the infrastructure for local circular ecosystems - systems that serve both FAVO and other manufacturers.

Digital learning

YouTube content documenting the full manufacturing process, material science, and circular design principles. Target: 90,000–170,000 learners reached across three years. Open knowledge, freely available.

Education is how circular thinking scales beyond one company. We share what we learn because the problem is bigger than any single business.

We don't offset. We don't compensate.

We design systems that give back.

When we claim it, we measure it. When we measure it, we publish it.
